Book Summary:

It begins small.
His smoky blue eyes strike hers until the air between them flickers.
Her whispered suggestion blows the spark into a flame.
A guarded heart. A relentless pursuit.
An insatiable chemistry that yields to a torrid affair.

Alexis Stone
I tried to do things the right way. I wore the big white dress and rode off with Prince Charming. Then Charming changed his mind. Some people rush to fill the holes left by their past, but I stripped my life bare. Right down to the essentials: Me, myself, and I. Now I’m thriving, running a successful company and I’m sure I’ve got everything I want. Enter Leo, a gorgeous, blue-eyed specimen of a man, who walks into my company and introduces me to a level of attraction that is inescapable, undeniable, and utterly consuming. I have two choices, I can either edge around the intense chemistry between us or plunge right through it until there’s nothing left. I’m done playing by the rules, but nothing can prepare me for what’s on the other side.

[A standalone romantic drama. First book in a series of interconnected novels. Contains explicit content.]

Longer Review:

Obstinacy meets persistence and boils into a steamy story of re-found love. I’m still swooning over Leo….sigh.

Alexis is one hard nut to crack. I’ve read books with characters who had some pretty steely shells, but damnit to hell – she takes the cake. Congratulations, Alexis. I have awarded you OWMS’ Bitch of The Year.

And yet. I loved her.

I could totally tell, even from the beginning, that behind Alexis’ aloofness and impassivity that there was a lurking insecurity and vulnerability that she had stomped down and was force feeding it the heaviest of guilt trips to stay DOWN.

Until Leo. When she meets Leo, who she technically hired since it’s her company and all, she admires him from afar but refuses to ever do more than that. Leo’s not the relationship type either, but he can’t fight his attraction for Alexis. He sees through her facade and wants to break down her walls. It is so fucking adorable.

If you’re not a fan of uncomfortable silences, you’re going to be uhhhh, uncomfortable. But as for me, I completely enjoyed every weird, awkward and romantic scene Larsen gave to me. The sex is outstanding, the writing flows easily and the characters are complexly simple. Entangle twists you in a beautiful mess and leaves you with a crooked smile.

This book pairs beautifully with book two, Entice – which you need to go read now because I snorted in the first three pages of that book. Just have a Veronica Larsen binge read session. GO FORTH.

5 stars – loved it!
